Mr. Nelson is a 1984 graduate of the OU College of Law. His initial creditor litigation and collection experience was as an in-house counsel for the FDIC. His primary responsibility was bankruptcy and related collection and litigation matters associated with the closing of Penn Square Bank, Oklahoma City, and subsequently over 230 banks and their bankruptcy matters throughout the State of Oklahoma. Mr. Nelson has also been an adjunct instructor, OU School of Law, bankruptcy/paralegal program, and is a frequent lecturer on bankruptcy, foreclosure, collection and commercial litigation practice. Mr. Nelson previously represented the Chapter 13 trustee, in the Western District of Oklahoma for over 5 years as exclusive outside counsel.

Mr. Nelson has extensive experience as an Oklahoma bankruptcy attorney. Since 1994, Mr. Nelson has acted as a Panel Chapter 7 Trustee, US Bankruptcy Court, Western District of Oklahoma, in addition to his private creditor rights and litigation/foreclosure/collection practice. He has personally handled over 15,000 bankruptcy petitions as trustee. With respect to his private practice, he has participated in or represented creditors in over 18,000 consumer and commercial bankruptcy cases since 1984 in every district in Oklahoma and over 40 other states, plus has filed thousands of replevin and foreclosure matters on behalf of his clients. Over the latest two year period, he will return over $4,000,000.00 to creditors as a panel trustee, almost all recovered as a result of litigation brought by his office.
