ABOUT GARY L. THOMPSON
Mr. Thompson’s practice primarily relates to areas of oil and gas and energy law. He has vast experience in oil and gas title examination, acquisitions and divestures of oil and gas properties, transactions relating to oil and gas and real property law and financial transactions regarding oil and gas properties. Mr. Thompson has been in charge of numerous acquisitions/divestitures for his oil and gas clients, including some in excess of one hundred million dollars. Additionally, Mr. Thompson has been recognized as an expert witness in the area of title examination in various litigation matters.
Mr. Thompson graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1976 and a Juris Doctorate degree in 1979, where he was Article and Book Review Editor for the Oklahoma Law Review. Thereafter, Mr. Thompson joined the firm of Foreman & Dyess in Houston, Texas, before returning to Oklahoma to join the firm of Watson, McKenzie & Moricoli. Mr. Thompson is admitted to practice in Oklahoma, Texas and Arkansas and is a member of the Oklahoma City Mineral Lawyers Society and Oklahoma City Real Property Lawyers Association.
Mr. Thompson has presented various papers and lectures regarding oil and gas title examination, changes in Oklahoma’s foreclosure laws and applicability of the mortgage tax to various oil and gas and real property interests.
